Staff Industrial Designer

  • Promoted from Senior Industrial designer in January 2016
  • Developing the Synaptive Guide product, an optically tracked surgical navigation system, including:
  • Custom tracked surgical suction instruments
  • Tracked surgical pointer tools
  • Tracked calibration fixtures
  • A hand-held 3D scanner used for fiducial-free registration

Hologic Canada - July 2012 to January 2015

Group Manager, Industrial Design

  • Promoted to Group Manager of Industrial Design with increased responsibilities reporting to Sr. Director of Advanced Product Development and Director of Engineering
  • Redesigned Hologic’s new Universal Acquisition Work Station and lead engineering team through development, from concept to production
  • Reduced cost and improved usability of current Acquisition Work Station products

Industrial Designer, Lead and Manager

  • Continued developing products while managing and mentoring a team of industrial designers and engineering interns
  • Managed and maintained Sentinelle’s SolidWorks system:
  • Improved staff CAD modeling techniques by training new and experienced users in SolidWorks and parametric CAD best practices
  • Supported Engineering by implementing changes (engineering, manufacturing, prototype) using Agile Product Life Cycle Management system
  • Improved prototyping and model making capability by managing Sentinelle’s mechanical lab; increased lab capability by researching and purchasing tools and machines

Sentinelle Medical - November 2006 to August 2010

Industrial Designer

  • Hired by Sentinelle founders as one of first five employees
  • Added to Sentinelle’s product portfolio by developing new breast MRI coil systems, from concept to production, for scanners produced by GE, Siemens, and Toshiba

Raytheon Canada - 2001 to 2005

Mechanical Designer

  • Designed and created 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies, including:
  • Enclosures, sheet metal brackets, mounting panels
  • Machined aluminum enclosures for RF (Radio Frequency), and circuit board assemblies
  • ccurate representational models of circuit board assemblies including all relevant electronic components
  • Created and revised 2D engineering drawings of parts, assemblies, and printed circuit boards
  • Analyzed tolerance stack-ups and made recommendations to improve production
